“A Bit of a Fetish” by Kim Dare

I love Christmas. Films, trimmings, carols, presents—I'm a big kid about the whole thing. So, when I sat down to write a holiday story for an anthology called O Come All Ye Kinky, I fully expected to come up with a Christmas story.

However, there's something else I have a bit of a fetish for—New Year’s Eve. New beginnings, deadlines for finishing that year’s work, making lists—I love it all. For 2012, I had nine resolutions. (I'm on track to keep five—barely more than half ! *blush* I’ll have to do better in 2013!)

One resolution I have kept so far is to resist buying anything from lovehoney. Don't get me wrong, it's a great website. When I moved house, I stocked a fair percentage of my new playroom from there. For a mainstream website, they do kinky very well. But, too much of a good thing simply won’t fit in my play space.

Here are some of the highlights from my purchases from before 2012’s resolution came into force...

Door restraints: because not everyone has room for a Saint Andrews cross—and even if you do, they're bloody difficult to take on holidays with you. These turn any door into a kinky playground.

A heart topped crop: because I'm a romantic at heart and this leaves the best ever marks on pristine buttocks. (There’s also a butterfly one I’m quite partial to.

Candles: these have an especially low melting point, making them safe for wax play—I can vouch for that. They give a gorgeous wax splattered look, and even better sensations on tender bits of anatomy.

Blindfold: It’s one of many in my collection. I only bought this particular one because it was on offer, but it turned out to be the best blindfold I've ever used. No peeking potential at all and comfortable as well.

Lolly: technically it's not for the playroom, but it is from the same website. Because everyone needs to be cheered up now and again, and it's impossible not to smile when you're licking one of these. I highly recommend them :)

You may be interested to know that something very similar to at least one of these toys features in the New Year’s story I wrote for the O Come All Ye Kinky anthology.

Here’s the blurb for my story, “His Very Last Chance.”
Drew screwed up. So when his master, Kingsley, summons him on New Year’s Eve, he knows he deserves the punishment in store for him. Everything changed for Kingsley when he overheard Drew running his mouth to his friends on Boxing Day. Now, there’s only one way he can possibly ring in the New Year: starting over fresh, either with an ending or a new beginning.

And here’s what you can expect to find in the anthology as a whole:

Christmas is a time of love and joy, and the New Year is a time of renewal. But they are also times of stress and strife, family drama, pressure and heartache—a potent mix of high expectations and conflicted emotions. Add in power exchange relationships, kinky gift swaps, and unconventional love in a sometimes unforgiving world, and you have a formula for a sizzling anthology of stories that tug at your heart.

From Ava March’s forbidden Regency love between men, to Katie Porter’s scorching hot contemporary tale of two women discovering holiday happiness, everyone will find a favorite here. Pervertible toys abound: Lambda Literary Award finalist L.A. Witt’s candy cane, Jane Davitt’s wrapping paper and tape, and Alexa Snow’s Christmas candles all please and delight. Newcomer Elyan Smith and fan favorite Kim Dare both celebrate New Year’s Eve with romantic flair and kinky fireworks, while bestselling author Joey W. Hill’s poignant story of discovery and commitment will lead you home.

Whatever your desires, we invite you to explore new fantasies and old with these eight kinky tales of holiday happy endings.

20% of all proceeds from O Come All Ye Kinky will be donated to the Domestic Violence Project of the National Leather Association–International. (If you buy the book, digital or print, from Riptide’s website, more money goes to the charity because we’re not paying third-party vendor fees.)

You can find out more about the anthology and all the stories here.

About Kim Dare:
Kim Dare is a twenty-nine year old, full time writer from Wales (UK). First published in 2008, she has since released close to eighty BDSM erotic romance titles. Kim’s titles have included contemporary stories, fairytale re-tellings, vampires, time travelers, werewolves and werelions—not to mention the occasional wereduck.

Regardless of the gender of her characters or the different genres they inhabit, from short stories to full-length novels, there are three things Kim always wants to give her characters—kink, love, and a happy ending.
