Interview & Giveaway with Cat Grant (Rentboy Blog Tour)

I am so excited to have Cat Grant on Pants Off today as apart of her Priceless blog tour, and in my excitement I attacked her with a few questions. I reviewed Priceless earlier, and you can check it out here. Please, give a warm welcome to Cat.

Tell us a bit about yourself and how long you've been writing?
I've been writing my whole life, off and on. From the time I was fourteen or so, it's been my dream to become a published author.

Was gay romance something you always wanted to write? Or did you develop an interest over time?
I started out writing slash fan fiction back in the day, just like a number of other m/m writers. Although I did have a traditional m/f historical romance making the rounds back in the 1990s - but honestly, it was awful, mostly because my heart wasn't in it. I remember being bummed that I couldn't write what I really loved to write (namely m/m romance), because I knew I could hit it out of the park. Fifteen years later, here I am!

Can you tell us a bit about Priceless, and your future plans in writing?
Priceless is part of Riptide's 2012 Rentboy Collection - their very first collection of any kind, in fact - and I'm proud to be a part of it. I resisted writing it at first because I'd already written a male escort story (The First Real Thing, published by Ellora's Cave in 2010), and I didn't want to repeat myself. But my editor/BFF/brain-twin Rachel Haimowitz kept hammering away at me until I decided to give it a try, and it turned out to be one of my favorite stories. My heroes Connor and Wes are such sweethearts, I just want to cuddle them!

As for my future plans... I'll be revising the first three of my Courtland Chronicles books for Riptide, and I'm currently contemplating a novel about a gay opera singer.

I loved Power Play: Resistance and I look forward to the second book in the series. Will you be writing anymore BDSM with a co-author or by yourself?
Rachel & I have been kicking around an idea for another Jonathan/Brandon story. As for whether it ever gets written... probably not for awhile.

Will you ever write about Marc and Cole from Once A Marine again?
Hm. I could see doing another story about Marc and Cole. Maybe a few years in the future, after Cole's graduated from law school and Marc's writing career's started to pay off. Perhaps it might involve them adopting a child. Yeah, that might work. :)

What would you consider the sexiest scene you've ever written?
Oh, all the three-way scenes in Entangled Trio. I had to take cold showers every night when I was writing that book!

The gay Twilight, would you write it?
Uh, no. I read the first Twilight novel, and I absolutely HATED it. Besides, paranormal's not my forte. I'll leave it to authors who do it best.

Top or Bottom, who has it better?
I think they'd say they both have it pretty good! Which is why I like writing about male characters who are versatile in the bedroom. I like playing with that dynamic. Helps keep the sex scenes from getting boring.

Pants, is it better to write with them on or off? (research purposes only ^_~)
Depends on how hot it is! I've even been known to write in the nude. ;)

If readers want to contact you or learn more about your books. Where can they find you?
EPIC Award-winning author Cat Grant lives by the sea in beautiful Monterey, California, with one persnickety feline and entirely too many books and DVDs. When she's not writing, she sings along to whatever's on her iPod, watches lots of movies, and fantasizes about kinky sex with Michael Fassbender.

Blurb:
When love’s for sale, who really pays?

Connor Morrison is a 3D optics pioneer, the star of the UC Berkeley physics department, and a socially-inept workaholic. And with his dear friend and business partner, Steve Campbell, handling their investors, he’s content to remain in the shadows. That is, until he meets the gorgeous and starry-eyed physics student Wes Martin.

Wes is brilliant but broke. Ever since his scholarship fell victim to the financial crisis, he's had no choice but to sell his body to stay in school. Already half in love with Connor, Wes initially resists Steve's offer to be Connor's thirty-fifth birthday present. But in the end, Wes is too broke—and too smitten—to say no.

Connor has no idea Steve bought Wes’s attentions, and he quickly falls under the young man’s spell. Yet after one night together, Wes disappears. He can't bear to hook with a man he could so easily grow to love, but he also can’t bear to tell him the truth. Besides, if he sleeps with Connor again, there'd be no way to hide the bruises one of his regular johns loves to inflict. Only one thing to do: let Connor go. Walking away is painful, but not nearly as much as building a relationship on lies.

  1. I'm a big fan of Cat's writing. I've read all of her books, including the Courtland Chronicles when they were first released years ago. Can't wait for Power Play:Awakening and I'm about to read Priceless right now.

The only book I haven't read is Entangled Trio. Sounds like I've been missing out on some steamy sex scenes in that one. :D
