On the school stuff with my son, I can report some
very good things. He is now reading by himself and pronouncing words (my
freaking heart is super happy). I have been working with his teachers and I got
his report card and though it wasn’t stellar (behaviour) academic wise I couldn’t
be prouder. This was just in the time of
over two months; so I am excited of where he will be in six. So each day I sit
with him and we read, talk, and do homework. His attitude, is something to be
desired *so much attitude* we gotta work on that hardcore. I am just
celebrating his accomplishments at the moment *fist pump*.
These are a few of the books I enjoyed while
breaking…
Gasp by Z.A Maxfield
4 Pants Off
Thoughts: Really liked it! Didn't love it but you can't really go wrong with a ZAM.
Who We Are (Bear, Otter, and Kid #2) by TJ Klune
4.5 Pants Off
Thoughts: Loved the crap out of it. I could read about them all day everyday. I want more pronto!
Shattered Glass (Glass #1) by Dani Alexander
4 Pants Off (High)
Thoughts: Really liked it! Was worried about the overall but I am really anticipating more.
Champion (Indigo Knights #2) by Jet Mykles
4 Pants Off
Thoughts: Not as awesome as I expected but Jet knows how to write GFY/OFY
My Regelence Rake (Sci-Regency #3) by J.L Langley
4 Pants Off
Thoughts: The feck, I missed these guys. Didn't have the awesome of book 1&2 but Rexley and Trouble make up for it. I just love every freaking character in this book.
There were so more reads but mostly low and high 3 Pants Off. Those five books are the ones that I really enjoyed along with Lisa Henry's The Island. Also, since I was MIA for Halloween I did not get to do a giveaway. Well today is your lucky day!

ReplyDeleteThe last book I read and really liked was Aaron by J.P. Barnaby.
I have to read some J.P Barnaby very soon.
DeleteGlad you're enjoying your break. I grabbed King Perry by Edmond Manning and loved everything about it.
ReplyDeletemelora.derryth(at)gmail(dot)com
Thanks! King Perry was awesome and uplifting, a very good read.
DeleteWithout a doubt The Party Boy's Guide to Dating a Geek, great story, lovely characters and flawless writing - what else can you ask for?
ReplyDeleteMy fave book of the year! Loved it so freaking much, all that geek was hot as hell.
DeleteBest to you and your son--good to have you back! I've really enjoyed THE HOT FLOOR by Josephine Myles, and WHEN KAT'S AWAY by Missy Martine (that one's technically m/m/f menage, but there's scorching m/m aplenty and I love David and Win together).
ReplyDeletevitajex(at)aol(dot)com
The Hot Floor was awesome
DeleteI've read a lot of good books just lately; the two that spring to mind at the moment are A Better Man (R J Scott & Jaime Reese) and the second episode of The Flesh Cartel (Heidi Belleau & Rachel Haimowitz).
ReplyDeleteVery, very different stories but both very enjoyable in their own way. Sorry - I couldn't narrow it down to just one!
I have to read the second Flesh Cartel real soon, I got get pumped though. A Better Man has been on my radar, will now add it to the TBR
DeleteI'm sure you are proud of your son! My oldest has dyslexia and every success is a reason to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteI read a 'golden oldie' The Strongest Shape' a m/m/m ménage story recently by Tessa Cardenas and really liked it!
Mandy, The Strngest Shape is one of my fave m/m/m books. Just loved it ao much!
DeleteYep, I like m/m/m and this is by far my favorite of all the ones I've read! I know I will be rereading again soon, can't believe it took me this long to find it! lol
DeleteI have read a lot of good books this month, but so far my favorite was Tarin's World Series by Syd McGinley.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're break is going good!
:)
I will have to check it out. Thanks Adriana
DeleteI read Dex in Blue and loved it! I love, love, love Chase in Shadow so was excited about the sexual. I was also glad it wasn't as depressing as Chase! It still had drama and angst without any, well if you read Chase you know what I mean. I can't wait to read the next book in the series that I think is next on Amy's to write list after she finishes her current project. I have been reading a whole lot lately and have so many books I need to get to!
ReplyDeleteOceanAkers @ aol.com
I am always so scared to read Amy Lane but I do have this series along with many other books of Amy's. one day I will gather the Kleenex and attack ^_^
DeleteGreat to hear from you! Glad your son is doing well. :)
ReplyDeleteI loved Who We Are, too. If you haven't already, check out TJ Klune's blog post from August 12th. You won't be disappointed, but you might need some Kleenex. ;)
I just finished Gilliflowers by Gillibran Brown. It's the fourth in his Memoirs of a Houseboy books. So funny! I really liked it. :D
I also enjoyed Amy Lane's How to Raise an Honest Rabbit. I'm about to start Knitter in His Natural Habitat right now.
Good luck with your TBR pile!
lkbherring64(at)gmail(dot)com
I will check out the blog and post, also this houseboy series *had me at houseboy*
DeleteLately I read a lot of (surprisingly) good books. One that really stands out is "Belonging" by Pat Cunningham. It was light and funny, and had a plot twist that kicked the book from very good to amazing for me.
ReplyDeleteJoan
0401romance[at]gmail[dot]com
I will have to check out Belonging. Thanks Joanna
DeleteWelcome back! Three cheers for your son! I just read Josh of the Damned. Very funny, but much too short. Now I'm reading a charming online story called Brendan and the Beast on AO3.
ReplyDeletebrendurbanist@gmail.com
Yep, the Josh stories are awesome but a bit too short. It's so surprising how awesome online stories are.
DeleteIt's good to hear your son is doing better :-) You're probably thinking 'how do you know, I've never seen you around' but I have tendacy to lurk when I'm short on time :P
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I read Black Magic by Megan Derr and I can safely say it's in my top 3 of best books this year and of late it's become really hard to convince me of anything good in the m/m genre.
It has everything, action adventure, romance, drama, angst and fantasy and all that in one hell of a well written story!
I read the blurb for Black Magic and I will be reading it for sure, I haven't been disappointed by a Megan Derr book yet.
DeleteGlad, you are lurking :D I am a lurker too
I loved My Regelence Rake, Shattered glass and Champion. The other two are sitting there waiting for me to read. My most recent 5 stars are for KC Burn Craving and But for you. Must say, seem to be a lot OK and good but very few Excellent new reads around at the moment.
ReplyDeleteYes, lots of OK read but I no epic excellence lately. Hopefully 2013 will be filled with awesome.
DeleteHappy to hear your son is doing so much better in school.
ReplyDeleteRecently, I finished Convincing Arthur and Convincing Leopold by Ava March. Both books were really good.
strive4bst(At) yahoo(Dot) com
I have to read more Ava March, I read and really liked thief. So for 2013 more Ava March for sure on POR
DeleteI recently read Blade's Desire (Desire Oklahoma 2) by Leah Brooke. I still need to read book 3 but the first two were really good,
ReplyDeletemiztik_rose@yahoo.com
Will check them out, thanks Mary
DeleteAnything by Mary Calmes is always good.
ReplyDeleteI've only read 3 books by Mary Calmes and only really liked one. I am not giving up hope, I still have a few books left to read by her.
Deleteoh, that's easy, the book I REALLY just.. LOVED, loved, loved while you were breaking was No Shadows Fall by L.J. LaBarthe. It blew me away. oh! also, Panahasi by Lynn Hagen. LOL...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!!
Judi
arella3173_loveless@yahoo(dot)com
Judi, I gotta go check this book out if you loved it so much.
DeleteThe last book that that i liked a lot was actually the first non m/m book that I have read in months... A Modern Witch by Debora Geary...really liked it. Very light and sweet.
ReplyDeletechellebee66(at)gmail(dot)com
I am also reading my first non m/m book "Lover Reborn" nut then again Blay and Saxton are spreading their love all over the world *grrrr*
DeleteI also read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Can't wait until March for Lover at Last when Qhuinn and Blay (Qhuay) finally get their own book. Yay!!!
DeleteThe last book I've read and really liked was The Spirit Within by Marcy Jacks. It was a nice ghost love story although it did leave me questioning how one of the MC's was able to do function in certain situations and not in others.
ReplyDelete-H.B.
humhumbum(at)yahoo(dot)com
Will check it out, thanks for stopping by H.B
DeleteThe last book I read and loved was Fall Into You by Roberts Posy. That's really an excellent book!
ReplyDeletedata.rajah@yahoo.com
My eyes have been on that one. Maybe I will review it, love the rockstar theme and the cover.
DeleteYes, I love that cover to bits. But that's not all, the story's very engaging and unforgettably emotional. I read that book two days ago, and I've thought about it incessantly. The book before that I read was Hushed by Kelley York. It's dark and...interesting, to say the least. I think you'd like it, as well as Fall into you.
DeleteThe best book I've read recently is Little Squirrels Can Climb Tall Trees by Michael Murphy. Looking forward to more by this author. Wishing you continued good luck with your son.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy! You guys have been reading some good stuff.
DeleteI just read Mind Magic by Poppy Dennison and loved it! It had great, interesting characters and a unique twist on magic and the different supernatural creatures we're used to. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeletesmaccall AT comcast.net
I have Mind Magic on my TBR and had hoped to read it over my break. Fingers crossed I get it done.
DeleteI loved A Better Man by RJ Scott.
ReplyDeleteYvette
yratpatrol@aol.com
This book is so on my radar must bump it up the list. Second comment about this one.
DeleteI loved Knitter in His Natural Habitat by Amy Lane
ReplyDeleteSo good but don't read it before the other 2 or you won't know what's going on.
loristyer@frontier.com
Lots of Amy books enjoyed while I been breaking.
DeleteSecond Chances and The One Who Saves Me...*sigh* and I read them back to back...love them both!
ReplyDeleteI should also clarify that I was referring to Second Chances by T.A. Webb...I've read 3 "Second Chances" in the past two months...not that I don't like them all, I just LOVED T.A. Webb's :D
DeleteYes, there are many Second Chances. I have to read some Cardeno C soon or else :D
DeleteI really, really enjoyed The Druid Stone by Heidi Belleau and Violetta Vane - and I think I won it on a comp here!!
ReplyDeleteSuze
Littlesuze at hotmail.com
Always giving you the best :D Yes Druid Stone is an awesome read.
DeleteI just want to give you and your son big congrats. It sounds like your hard work is paying off. Both of my kids struggled in elementary school and had to seek out extra help. They're both in high school now (ugh) and that presents a whole slew of new stresses. Yeah, you'll want to nip that attitude now, trust me. LOL.
