The Update And A Giveaway!!!

I think I was due for an update, so I am telling you guys what I have been up to. I have been reading like crazy (books go quicker when I don’t have to review them) lol. I am over the twenty mark with still some time to go on my break, while not a huge dent in the TBR, I feel all accomplished and shit.

On the school stuff with my son, I can report some very good things. He is now reading by himself and pronouncing words (my freaking heart is super happy). I have been working with his teachers and I got his report card and though it wasn’t stellar (behaviour) academic wise I couldn’t be prouder.  This was just in the time of over two months; so I am excited of where he will be in six. So each day I sit with him and we read, talk, and do homework. His attitude, is something to be desired *so much attitude* we gotta work on that hardcore. I am just celebrating his accomplishments at the moment *fist pump*.

These are a few of the books I enjoyed while breaking…

Gasp by Z.A Maxfield
4 Pants Off

Thoughts: Really liked it! Didn't love it but you can't really go wrong with a ZAM.

Who We Are (Bear, Otter, and Kid #2) by TJ Klune
4.5 Pants Off

Thoughts: Loved the crap out of it. I could read about them all day everyday. I want more pronto!

Shattered Glass (Glass #1) by Dani Alexander
4 Pants Off (High)

Thoughts: Really liked it! Was worried about the overall but I am really anticipating more.

Champion (Indigo Knights #2) by Jet Mykles
4 Pants Off

Thoughts: Not as awesome as I expected but Jet knows how to write GFY/OFY

My Regelence Rake (Sci-Regency #3) by J.L Langley
4 Pants Off

Thoughts: The feck, I missed these guys. Didn't have the awesome of book 1&2 but Rexley and Trouble make up for it. I just love every freaking character in this book.

There were so more reads but mostly low and high 3 Pants Off. Those five books are the ones that I really enjoyed along with Lisa Henry's The Island. Also, since I was MIA for Halloween I did not get to do a giveaway. Well today is your lucky day!

Comment on this post for your chance to win a $10 GC from either Amazon or All Romance. All you have to do is tell me "what book you read and really liked?" while I been breaking.

  4. Best to you and your son--good to have you back! I've really enjoyed THE HOT FLOOR by Josephine Myles, and WHEN KAT'S AWAY by Missy Martine (that one's technically m/m/f menage, but there's scorching m/m aplenty and I love David and Win together).

  5. I've read a lot of good books just lately; the two that spring to mind at the moment are A Better Man (R J Scott & Jaime Reese) and the second episode of The Flesh Cartel (Heidi Belleau & Rachel Haimowitz).
Very, very different stories but both very enjoyable in their own way. Sorry - I couldn't narrow it down to just one!

  8. I read Dex in Blue and loved it! I love, love, love Chase in Shadow so was excited about the sexual. I was also glad it wasn't as depressing as Chase! It still had drama and angst without any, well if you read Chase you know what I mean. I can't wait to read the next book in the series that I think is next on Amy's to write list after she finishes her current project. I have been reading a whole lot lately and have so many books I need to get to!

  9. Great to hear from you! Glad your son is doing well. :)

I loved Who We Are, too. If you haven't already, check out TJ Klune's blog post from August 12th. You won't be disappointed, but you might need some Kleenex. ;)

I just finished Gilliflowers by Gillibran Brown. It's the fourth in his Memoirs of a Houseboy books. So funny! I really liked it. :D

I also enjoyed Amy Lane's How to Raise an Honest Rabbit. I'm about to start Knitter in His Natural Habitat right now.

Good luck with your TBR pile!

  10. Lately I read a lot of (surprisingly) good books. One that really stands out is "Belonging" by Pat Cunningham. It was light and funny, and had a plot twist that kicked the book from very good to amazing for me.

  12. It's good to hear your son is doing better :-) You're probably thinking 'how do you know, I've never seen you around' but I have tendacy to lurk when I'm short on time :P

Anyways, I read Black Magic by Megan Derr and I can safely say it's in my top 3 of best books this year and of late it's become really hard to convince me of anything good in the m/m genre.

It has everything, action adventure, romance, drama, angst and fantasy and all that in one hell of a well written story!

    2. Yes, I love that cover to bits. But that's not all, the story's very engaging and unforgettably emotional. I read that book two days ago, and I've thought about it incessantly. The book before that I read was Hushed by Kelley York. It's dark and...interesting, to say the least. I think you'd like it, as well as Fall into you.

  27. I just want to give you and your son big congrats. It sounds like your hard work is paying off. Both of my kids struggled in elementary school and had to seek out extra help. They're both in high school now (ugh) and that presents a whole slew of new stresses. Yeah, you'll want to nip that attitude now, trust me. LOL.
