I can say I was intrigued by the cover of this book and the blurb also pulled me in. A rogue demon who falls in love and goes back on a soul deal (gasps). It had me at hello but I wanted to be telling it goodbye way quicker than anticipated. 

Saul is in the soul buying business and he’s the best at it. He wins them over with sophistication and killer looks and without any real push, people just sign their soul over to spend one night in the sack. What can he say he’s just that good (rolls eyes). When he spots the geeky looking guy in a bar Saul knows he’s gonna land himself another soul without lifting a finger. He’s gonna go finesse the shit out of him because who can turn down a night of carnal delights with him? He’s got this dude hook, line, and sinker. 

Tom dear old Tom. Looking for love, looking for lust, just out here looking for whatever. He can’t even bring himself to talk to the waiter he has a crush on, so he spends his time just staring at him. When he’s approached by a very handsome man Tom can’t believe his luck, but he realizes that something is up because in no way would a man like Saul ever be interested in him. When talks of soul selling pops up It doesn’t surprise him but he’s set in his conviction that a night with Saul is worth a eternity in hell (rolls eyes x2). 

Then the crazy ensues!! Saul realizes that he can’t let a sweet guy like Tom have an eternity burning, plus he’s starting to feel things in his demon heart for Tom and he wants to keep experiencing it. They find themselves on the run trying to out maneuver demons but also trying to live their best life and the icing on the cake is that Heaven has also taken notice. Can Tom soul be saved and can our men have their happily ever after? 

This book was just…I don’t even have the words. Can I call it pretentious? Because it really freaking was. The writing is first person and crazy because you’re invited to be apart of the world and by apart of, I mean Saul tries to drag you into his crazy. Sorry dude, all that shit is most definitely on you alone.  

You’re just as culpable as me, you know—you stayed for the show, after all. You wanted excitement, wanted to see me in action. 

Look, I can sense you rolling your eyes, making out you’re not convinced, but who’re you to talk? You keep following me around like a stray dog. We both know you can’t get enough of little old moi 

I would go to the ends of the earth for that boy. I would attempt impossible deeds for his sake. Not that I’ve been horsewhipped or house-trained. I’m still the man, still wearing the pants, still in control. Don’t think for one second that Tom has neutered me. 

There’s something about the writing that’s just too formal and I couldn’t get as caught up in the story as much as I wanted to. It also gets too OTT which really suck because if there was ever a story with potential, Souls for Sale is it. A demon falling in love and going rogue that’s the making of something sexy, but alas I didn’t get any of that here.  

I just kept reading to see where it would go and it didn’t go anywhere I truly enjoyed. The idea behind Soul for Sale might have been a good one but the executing was weak, and the characters forgettable, and the writing way too pretentious. The boys did get their HEA but by then I had stopped caring.

Yasssss! Like I am feeling pompous as feck. Like Mycroft Holmes pompous with his umbrella and shit. I've waited years for Larissa Ione to write M/M. As a huge fan of her Demonica series, I saw the potential in spades. Most of the series is filled with so much homoerotic content I damn near combusted. All I can say is “Don't let your dreams become dreams” because my dreams came true and I got my gay seminus demon and a little cameo from my undercover gay Wraith.   

 Raze is a Seminus demon and needs sex to survive. That's causes a problem because he's gay and a Sem demon can only get completion with a female. So his sexual urges create a problem. Luckily he has an understanding with his best friend Fayla; no emotions involved she's just there to get him off. Though she can be pain in the ass with her jealousy and trying to control him. Shit hits the proverbial fan when Raze sees a male that sets his pants on fire. It's the first time he's ever wanted someone so bad, and it hurts all the more because he can never have what he truly want. Sex with a male is no go. He’ll just end up in serious pain and have to find Fayle. So he nips those feelings in the bud as soon as they appear. When Frayla decides it's time to move on Raze can't bring himself to go, he's finally found a place he wants to be, at the cost of losing the female who keeps him alive.    

Slake is an assassin, and he's damn good at his job. His latest job is the most important of his career because if he fails he loses his soul forever. Failing is not an option. When a hot meeting with a guy at a club brings him closer to his target, his assignment could either go well or really bad meaning his soul will forever be lost to him. He never anticipated catching feelings and getting a conscience after so many years. The last things he wants to do is deceive Raze because there is more than just lust between the two.   

So…I don't want to give the story away, but I love what Ms. Ione did for Slake and Raze to be together. I like the fluidity of his species and that information made Slake an even more intriguing character. I'm a little disappointed because I don't feel these men got the story they deserve. Slake needed more; Raze needed more, and the tidbits to their life only infuriated me because I wanted the whole goddamn picture.    

What saved the story is the author is excellent at world-building, and her writing is super Amazing. I am a huge fan of the Demonica series and reading this just gave me feels. Even my feels had feels. Ms. Ione did something special here, but 150pgs wasn't enough to get that across. There is so much I want to talk about, but as I said I don't want to give too much away but what Slake species of demon is. I think it's something to be celebrated. You take away the paranormal aspect of it, and it becomes something to talk about.   

Overall, though, I loved the hell out of this story. I am feeling like the popped collars on Sherlock’s coat (legit). I've waited on this for years, and while I wanted more, I still feel satisfied. Raze and Slake did it for me, and while they needed more, I never doubted they wanted each other. As of now I am putting in my request for a 400pg book with a long lost brother of my Sem bros and he's totally gay because I can't get enough of these guys.

Review
Megan Derr has done it again. This author writes M/M fantasy like no other; her world building is incredible and always leaves me anticipating for more. I want more all the time, and I want it now.

Raffe isn't beautiful, he isn’t extraordinary, he isn't gifted he’s the looked over mouse in his family. He's talented with number but no one seems blown away with his gifts. His family has found him a match and his life should most likely be pleasant but uneventful. That is until his brother runs out on a important commitment and Raffe has to step up and take his place though his courage could end up taking his life. Raffe is to go through the blooding and become a Prince of Blood, fierce warriors who protect the kingdom and Raffe has most certainly bitten off more than he can chew. His brother would have been oerfect because he had the training but Raffe knows ye will most likely perish and never become a Prince because after-all he is of no importance and certainly of no strength.

Raffe is convinced he will not live through the blooding, and since it will be his last night alive he wants to something that will make his last night the sweetest. Too bad his fiancé is a prude and leaves him high dry. Just when Raffe feels forsaken a sexy stranger offers him his night, and what a glorious night of lovemaking it was. If he is meant to leave the world then he will have treasured memory of the very first person who have ever made him feel wanted, treasured, and in some way loved. When Raffe survives the blooding no one is more surprised than him, because now he is recognized as powerful and he stands with the great.

He takes to his skills like duck to water and while he does have moments of doubt he feels powerful and for the first time he has a family that take notice of him people who finally see him. All thats missing is his sexy lover who gave him a night never to forget and Raffe longs for his touch once again. Yet, his love life had to wait because a terribly enemy is upon on them and everyone is in danger. While new to his skills, Raffe has to serve as if he were a veteran and act like he knows what he's doing. What he might not be able to deal with the losses and a task so great that it will break him and his demon heart.

Once again, with most Megan Derr book there is a lot that his happening and so many great characters fill the pages. I could literally write pages to review this book but I'll keep it simple. There is love and loss, dragons, zombies, angels, sexy time, and shockers. I applaud the skills it takes to weave such a book and skills it take to keep all that in line. While there is a lot of world building it never felt like too much and it was always entertaining. In my head I can just picture the grandeur of the fight scenes and just beautiful colours it would all make.

I really liked all the characters and Raffe's secret lover was surprise I was like "wait now" never saw that coming. I like that they are vampire like but not really vampire like if that makes sense. The princes drink blood and so on but I think they're a little cooler than vamps :D. I shed a few tears, I was shocked out of mind by the twist there, and I thought I pegged the bad guy but I was way off.

Overall, Of Last Resort is an epic fantasy at its best filled with so much awesome and colour it’s hard not to fall in love. A fan of Megan Derr will love this book and fans of fantasy books that consumes you. You remove the sexy time and this book is just as great, romance or no romance it’s all out entertainment. I am looking forward to more in this series and I can't even wait...

SideNote- I wonder if anyone won the bet about Raffe's secret lover. I'm pretty sure they all were wrong, right?

Review
A great twist of the classical Snow White fairytale, with demons, vampires and shifters and a cross-dressing prince. Sounds silly? Well it isn't and that's what makes this one special!

The Queen needed an heir and the King loved her too much to take another lover, even if she couldn't bear a living child. So she takes it in her own hand and Prince Erik is conceived, but the price is very high and the queen dies, after giving birth.

Prince Erik has two guardians growing up, his mother’s old bodyguard and the King's Huntsman. It's them who are suspicious, when the king marries and brings home a new wife, but all is well for years, until the kings health begins to fail and the kingdom falls under a spell. All paintings show the prince dying and that's when Erik takes notice and start ask questions, some of the answers he find are quite surprising and he has to come to terms with his own conception and special abilities.

I would have liked to learn more about the history of all the mentioned countries, but the fantasy world was quite interesting and detailed enough for a novella. Erik didn't grew up afraid of his step-mother, she was actually not evil at all in the beginning and there was an interesting explanation for the changing behaviour of the queen, which was not used before, at least not in a version I've read. What was missing, at least in my opinion, was how Erik fell in love with the Huntsman. Suddenly he was interested in the Huntsman and the interest was even more suddenly returned.

Other than that it was an engaging story and there was quite a lot of suspense going on, at least for a fairytale.

Review:
I am so in love with Lou Harper's Paranormal romances, it’s freaking insane. With Dead Man and the Restless Spirits following the same set up as Spirit Sanguine, it was all a freaking delight. And to see a character I previously enjoyed get his HEA was a real joy to read.

Denton Mills can see dead people and sometimes it sucks a whole lot. He's learnt to care with his episodes, but just like death they can come on all unexpected like. So he tries to live as normal as possible, by holding down a job and hope echoes of the dead don't intrude on his day. When a friend shares that there is an apartment up for rent, Denton jumps at the opportunity to move into a nicer place. But of course there is no such thing as perfection, because Denton is warned about the next door neighbour who may or may not be a serial killer. One thing is for sure that sourly neighbour isn't into making friends, but Denton is no quitter.

Becoming fast friends with his neighbour Bran Maurell is easier said than done, because damn is the man a bit antisocial. Though, he did manage to get into his cat's good graces. Denton has to decided to kill him with sugar and before he knows it he's finding out that Bran is a witch and Denton is about to accompany him to a cleansing. Seems Bran gets rid of ghosts for a living, he's not exactly loving what he does but he does it anyways (or else mommy will get him). Denton finds himself smack dab in the middle of the very things he's been trying to avoid, but he does get to spend more time with Bran and that is a plus.

Their sexual chemistry is off the chain and they work well together, but Denton can't help feel like Bran is holding something back. They have incredible sex but Bran seems to always be wearing all his clothes, and Denton has had enough of that. What he uncovers is a surprise and all types of awesome, and I don't want to give anything away but let’s just say I got all types of Hell Boy feels.

Denton and Bran are entertaining, sexy, and so hilarious. Follow them as they cleanse a restaurant from a troublesome ghost, rid a girl from a possession, and reunite lovers in the afterlife while battling a meddling mom. I love the characters that Lou Harper has created, and Dead Man and the Restless Spirits has now made her a must read author for me. I was just blisssed out while reading this and I can't wait for more (keep em coming Miss Harper).

Should You Read It? Hell Yes!! A wonderfully written paranormal with great characters, and non-stop entertainment. Denton will steal a bit of your heart and Bran will just capture all of it. It should be on everyone's must read radar.

Short Review:
So what to write about this story? A demon found an angel and no, this is not the beginning of a joke, just the summary of this story. Jake is a half-demon and is therefore not exactly the most favorite or the most trusted worker in the Order of Divine Human Protection, since they usually fight demons and supernatural elements. He is also the one that found a man with amnesia and an unreadable aura and takes him in. They become friends and this is something we are told and there are some flashbacks, but the story doesn't show a lot about their relationship/friendship. There is a lot of sexual tension between them and of course it's in the least expected place that they find out the identity of Jake’s love interest, which also means he has to let him go. Thankfully there is a happy end, but no I'm not telling you how they manage to be together, you have to read it to find out. ^_~

It's an ok story, cute even, but I didn't really connect to the characters, at all, which diminished my enjoyment of the story. Too many things were told and not shown and I was missing a lot of background information, so I was basically just thrown in as a reader and had to find my way, but there was no hook to reel me in. Nice read but the spark is missing.

Short Review:
Rhine is a kelpie, who is captured for wizards to experiment on him and he is not the only one. All kinds of supernatural creatures and beings are kept in the wizard’s tower, more or less as a magical ingredients source, just that they are living and not dead and that they are ingredients and test subjects in one. The reason why no one is escaping is that they capture the young and inexperienced ones and there is a magic barrier that no one can destroy.

Rhine has a plan though and it involves using the knowledge he was able to gain from the wizards to summon a mystical creature of his own, one that should hopefully help him escape his prison. Of course nothing goes like it supposed to! First of all he summons a sphinx and said hot sphinx guy can mostly do defensive and protective magic, which doesn't help Rhine escape, at all. With the new captives, arrives another problem, they are kids and Rhine doesn't want to escape alone, but to help the kids go home.

The idea is interesting, but the spark is missing. I'm somewhat reminded of a fairytale, which tells us a story, but doesn't really show it. There is not much room to form attachments to the characters, since they try to escape and this is the central point of the story. Also the relationship develops pretty quickly; I would have liked another reaction from the summoned sphinx and at least some hesitation.

Review: 
I don't know what I was expecting, but surely I was not expecting this. And by this, I mean an awesome story packed in a few pages filled with sexy love. Then again, it’s a Cari Z. so I should have expected awesome. The serial starts off with a bang and interesting characters which puts new meaning to "I will make your pants drop". Heaven's On Fire is the explosive beginning to something quite special.

Devon has to infiltrate some seedy establishment based in the desserts of Las Vegas; he's the best so he was expecting to get it done easily. When he starts off by accessing his greatest power, he never expected them catch on so quickly and now he's at the end of a taser and being captured. Upside, the man that was his target is present but the downside he's going to need back-up (after-all it’s not really a downside). Porter Gray is the top demon summoner and he has been putting his skill to use in the den of disastrous deeds, and landing his eyes on Cambion like Devon is intriguing but you know there's no time to play. There are succubus to summon and dirty old men to entertain but Porter's demon is about to come to a standstill and he's going to have to hightail it out of there and start anew because Heaven's Lair is about to get blown to bits.

So Devon is a Cambion which is like part incubus demon and human, which means he's got the skills to make you overcome with lust and do anything. That’s my conclusion on his makeup cus I feel like there's a bit more info to come on the whole Cambion thing. Right now it’s very singular, but I feel like there is more to come. Devon at the moment just seems like a sex kitten, supposedly he is one of the best but he came off like a horny kitten to me (so lots prove in the next episode). I am very interested in his backup Rio, who's all like mysterious, big, and might be interested in Devon a little more than he's even aware of (and Devon like really likes him).

It ends off on a thrilling note, which leaves the reader begging for answers. Like "Who was Porter Gray getting all hot in the pants and misty eyed with on the phone?” Judging by his reaction to the voice, something tells me that his "boss" might be a little bit other. Lots of awesome happening so far and I am just so excited to see where the serial is going. So excited to read up on the others, because the first had humour, guns a blazing, and hot sex. Just imagine what the others will be like....

Should You Read It? Hell yes...all fans of Cari Z should be picking this one up, and the story is intriguing and exciting. Who doesn't love a half-sex demon? Plus, Rio and Devon's relationship should get all types of interesting as the episodes keep coming. Really enjoyed it!!

Review:
Megan Derr has done it again, and I am always amazed when I read one of her books. Black Magic pulled me in from the very beginning, and the author manages to bring another world to life with characters that are unforgettable.

Reviewing a Megan Derr book is always a challenge for me, because there is so much awesome happening that I want to talk about, but then I don't want to give spoilers and ruin the overall enjoyment of the book. Because a fantasy book by this author, the reader should be in the dark when starting. I am going to go ahead and call this one an epic adventure, with sweeping beautiful romances. The blurb gives the impression that it might go one way, but reading it was a completely different experience. The book is divided in three parts, all connected and all dealing with three romances. The romance plays the key role in unlocking mysteries and bringing together a people long divided by hate and miscommunication.

The story consists of Paladins, which are like knights blessed with their goddesses gifts. There is the High Paladin which is Sorin, and he is both ruler and there for guidance. Then there is the High Priest whom speaks directly to Goddess, and the Priests who have the healing energies. The first part of the story deals with Sorin discovering the death of his close friend and priest Alfrey, and that of High Priest. In comes Koray a necromancer whose help is needed, but Sorin believes Koray to be a practitioner of dark magic, but his goddess is saying that with Koray is where the answer lies. Part 2 and 3 brings in discovering of an Alchemist and Warlock and together they are powerful. Now they must catch a villain that is determined to destroy and kill.

The story is filled with magic both good and bad, and the set up of it all coming together is another area in which the author shines. Plot lines all intricately woven, and characters that all manage play a role somehow. Its non-stop entertainment filled with action, and delightful bickering between the MCs. Sorin, Koray, Cerant, Niekirk, Emel, and Brekk will capture your heart.

My only beef is that I wished for Brekk to remain looking like a demon. I was feeling all black skin, wings, and tail *sigh*. Then he went back to being human, not ordinary but still looking all human. I was like NOOO000oooo!

Should You Read It? Yes, all fans of Megan Derr must jump on this one. For its entire dark theme it mostly a romance and I just freaking loved it. I would love more from this world, but if there isn't more I am very satisfied with how it ended and where the couples are in their relationship. Another winning read, by the fab Miss Derr.

Rimmon may be an eagle warrior, but he’s never known war, and he’s never known love—until his kingdom’s army is destroyed by Ekari, the demon of winds, and he is captured by Melkor, one of the Iron Horde that has been killing off the world's gods. Those gods have cursed Melkor and his brothers to be conquerors and never to be loved, but Melkor, hoping to overcome his fate, carries Rimmon off to his island. 

There, he heals Rimmon’s wounds and teaches him about sexual pleasure, earning the young warrior’s trust and fanning the flames of an attraction both men yearn to embrace. But the curses of vengeful gods are difficult to break, especially when Rimmon discovers Melkor is the demon who destroyed his home.

Review:
Battling princes, battle eagles, enemies to lover, magic, and three brothers cursed by the gods to never finding love all sounded very promising.  I thought the world building quite interesting, even if it was a bit hard to imagine where all the countries were and what gods resided where, I think a map would have been helpful for that.

Rimmon is the prince of Ake, a small kingdom with eagle warriors to protect it. The warrior bond with the giant birds early and can see through their eyes and direct them in a fight.  While the eagle warriors were faring well against other threats, the Horde and its princes greatly out powered them.  It’s after an attack that Rimmon finds himself injured and alone with only his eagle Ayet to care for him. Melkor one of the demon princes and the one, who is mainly responsible for the defeat of Rimmon’s warrior, since he commands the winds, is immediately taken with the prince and his bird.

The romance between Rimmon and Melkor was hot, though I had hoped that it would take them longer to get together, then again the whole book wasn't that long, just over 100 pages, so it might have been that.  Plus point, is the hot sex scenes and the taming of the prince. I wasn't bored with the book and did get sucked into it right away. The characters were interesting and I liked the whole history how the three-demon princes came about, and what drove them to conquer the lands.

On the not so pretty side, there is violence, mention of rape and disgusting display of enemy heads. The yikes moment was when it was mentioned, that to gain a healing elixir they had to cook up a god or a child of a god, especially after they had to apply this elixir to Rimmon, in a fairly predictable way. The whole explanation why it could only be applied like that did not really make sense and sounded far fetched to me. I understand he has to hold it in his body. Why couldn't he drink it or hold the elixir in his mouth for that matter?

I’m still not sure how Rimmon and Melkor fell in love, in lust I understood that but love? I think here I would have liked to see a more romantic development and if that were done, I would have given it a better rating. One could see that Melkor cared, but then again for being the gentlest of demons, he was quite barbaric.

Prince of the Winds had the potential to be a great read, if one has a weakness for captive princes. I am looking forward to read something longer from this author, because that might prove more satisfying.
